On July 20, 2017, nine days after my accident, my brother, Jacob was sitting with me in the ICU, holding my left hand. ‟Are you trying to move your fingers⁈” He said. I blinked once for yes‼︎! Even though they weren’t really moving, he could feel me trying. We were so excited! He ran around to the other side of the bed and said ‟Can you move your right ones?” He held my hand and I wiggled my thumb! We were so excited and I couldn’t wait to show everyone else!
On July 27 I showed my sister, Rainie that I could move my pinky! Since I was moving my pinky and my thumb she said, ‟Just go ahead and move your hand.” I mouthed, ‟It will happen when it happens, Rainie!”
By July 31 I could move every finger except my ring finger! I was gaining movement so fast and soon I was squeezing peoples hands back as they held my hand. We said a little prayer to thank God each time I got something new back and each time it was another miracle!
Now, two years later, I am working on taking steps and feeding myself. I still have a long way to go, but I am a lot further than I was then. I’m not as far as I hoped I would be, but I have faith that I will be one day. It just takes time, I just have to be patient, work hard, and trust God in the mean time.
‟God will strengthen you with his own power so that you will not give up when troubles come, but you will be patient.” Colossians 1:11
