One question a person gets asked a lot toward the end of high school is, “What are you going to do next?” My answer to this question was that I was going to go into the Air Force. I wasn’t exactly sure of the rest, but I knew that I wanted to travel and learn until I figured it out. When I was in the hospital, my plans didn’t change, I still wanted to go into the Air Force. I assumed that I would quickly get better physically and the continue on with what I was doing and planning before my hospital stay.
While I was there, I met a doctor who had been in the Air Force. I made a list of questions to ask him about his experience, and he answered and discussed all of them with me. While this led me to think more about joining the Air Force, I soon began to realize that I may not actually ever get to join the military like I wanted to. So then what was I going to do?
I was able to finish high school online, which was a huge accomplishment, and then decided to devote the next year (2018) to therapy and work on getting stronger. I wanted to get better!!! That summer, I contemplated taking a college course in the fall. In July, I had to have a shunt revision and spent the next 6 weeks in the hospital and a rehabilitation facility so college was put off again.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” – Proverbs 16:9
God’s plans for me have been a lot different than I thought they would be. I still don’t know exactly what I want to do with the rest of my life, but I do know that I’ve taken a step in the right direction by enrolling in a couple of college courses! I know my future can change at any point, but whatever happens I know God’s plan is greater than anything I plan for myself!
So excited for you!! I love you!! Prayers for a great 1st year if college ??❤️
