As I was reading my syllabus for my online history class, I was overwhelmed with all the assignments given to me. I was so intimidated that I was contemplating dropping the class! I decided to keep going and after the first week, I was relieved to find how easily I completed the week’s work.
Reading the syllabus was stressful to me because it had all of my assignments right there in front of me at once. It just felt like too much, but as I got started I realized that I had nothing to worry about.
Sometimes, we do this in life too. When something happens, we tend to take it in all at once, making the situation feel a lot more stressful than it may be. If we focus on the smaller parts of a situation instead of the whole, we often realize that we are strong enough to handle the situation without feeling overtaken by it. Instead of not starting at all because it’s too overwhelming, remember to take things step by step and day by day and see what a difference it makes!
Love this!! My husband is bad about trying to get from point A to Z all at once rather than taking things A to B then B to C and so forth. I’ve explained this same thing to him. I even played a song we used to sing in church when we were little. It starts out “step by step I’ll climb the highest mountain” ☺️
