Cheers to a new year, a new decade, and a new YOU!
I love celebrating a New Year because it feels so… well, NEW!!! A perfect time to set new goals, resolutions, and to see how far you’ve come in the past year. Not only is this a new year though, it’s the beginning of a new decade! HELLO 2020!!! (can you tell I’m excited?)
In the last 10 years, my life changed in ways that I didn’t expect, but in the NEXT 10 I plan on making the best out of the life I have.
So I’m looking to 2020 with a few goals:
– Bicep curls and hamstring curls at the gym.
Right now, these are the exercises I need the most help with, so within the next year, I want to be able to do them without any assistance.
– I want to be able to pedal the bike 1 mile on my own.
– The hardware in my neck goes from my skull to the C3 vertebrae, which limits me from turning my head 70-80%. However, the muscles in my neck are so tight, I can’t turn my head at all!
So this year, I’m really going to focus on my neck muscles and work on being able to turn my head the little 20-30%.
– I took 2 college classes this past semester and enjoyed them! In 2020, I want to decide on a college degree that fits my interests and abilities so I can work towards it!
But I’m also remembering what a blessing it is to have a year with no major hospital stays, all the progress I made, and how strong I’ve gotten. My goal for 2019 was to take 60 steps but I didn’t reach it. The year was full of accomplishments though— I started college, water therapy, my blog, working out at the gym again, mastered floor transfers, staying standing up on my own, and much more. I set one goal for 2019, I didn’t reach it, but I achieved more than I could have even thought of.
Whether the year was what you wanted, more or less than, you can still take the good that came from it and move into another year. If you didn’t accomplish the goals you set or didn’t stick with your resolutions, that’s ok!!! Look at what you did accomplish and how far you’ve come since last year. You made it through another year— set new goals and try again!!!
Tell me what you accomplished in 2019.
What are your goals/resolutions for 2020?
Happy New Year!!!
