July 11, 2017 The day of my accident. I spent a month in the hospital, 3 in rehab, and continued therapy 3 times a week. In this first year, I had 4 huge accomplishments. I stood up for the first time, had my trach removed, started writing my name, and I took 60 steps in a row without any help moving my feet.
July 11, 2018 I celebrated living another year, even though I don’t remember one minute of that day! This was the day after the shunt surgery where my thalamus was bruised. I was starting all over…Recovering from a spinal cord injury plus a brain injury now. I spent 6 weeks at the shepherd center then came home to continue therapy 3 days a week at Children’s. During this year, I also graduated from high school and started making and and selling my tshirts!
July 11, 2019 I celebrated a whole year with no shunt problems and I started my blog! Over the past year, I started college, water therapy, and working out at the gym. We built a house that was more accessible for me and moved in! I found something I really enjoy doing- painting and selling cards. I got a new walker and began taking steps again!!!
July 11, 2020 Today, I am celebrating another day of life and I am thankful to be here. I can’t wait to see all the progress I make and what I accomplish over the next year.
