During the months following my accident, Rainie was pushing me to be a motivational speaker. She wanted me to tell my story. She wasn’t the only one that suggested motivational speaking either, but it just wasn’t something I was interested in!
Sure, I like encouraging people, I want to reach as many as I can with my story, and I want to inspire people to make the most of their lives.
But, regularly speaking in front of hundreds or maybe thousands of people? I think not…
That summer, we went to a camp at Camp McDowell called Hope Heals. There, the volunteer that was assigned to help us through the week was Danielle. She was fun and super cool! She wore the best T-shirts with inspirational words on them!
When we got home, Rainie had another idea! She suggested I start making T-shirts.
I actually liked sound of this one! I thought it would be easy to spread my story through my shirts. I learned how to design them on my laptop and decided to use part of my graduation speech for them.
“God put each and every one of us here to live an extraordinary life. So go the extra mile, be extra kind, and work extra hard, even when no one is watching; because those are the moments that add up to an extraordinary life.”
I hoped every time someone put one on it would be a reminder to be extraordinary!!! I even imagined having my own little store one day filled with my shirts. It made me so happy to see them on people.
I made a few more over the year but I realized pretty quickly that it was not something I wanted to keep doing. It was hard to come up with designs and I was spending more money than I could make.
One day, Rainie told me about how one of her friends gave her painted cards with written bible verses on them. She thought I would like making my own. If you haven’t noticed yet, Rainie is alllways coming up with a new idea for me, but this one was by far my favorite!
I love to paint and I liked that I would have a bigger part in making the cards than I could with the T-shirts.
I can’t write neat enough to add the verses so I use the my laptop (the same way I designed my shirts) and have them printed with the words.
Now, I have made all kinds- birthday cards, thank you cards, congrats cards and more! I add my website to the back, hoping people will find my blog and follow along with my story!!!
Anyway my point is—
If you want to start something new, just do it! For me, designing T-shirts was just a stepping stone to making my cards, but I am still glad I started with it! And now, I have found something that I love doing! You never know what something could lead to if ya just get started instead of waiting around. Just go for it!!!
Have you been thinking of starting something new? Leave a comment to let me know what it is!!!
Was this for me?
It seems like it. Thanks for alllways encouraging me.
Maybe ?
I thought it was good! Your cards you made me are great!
thank you!
Trying the Zoom Bible study was definitely something new for me! But I’m so glad we can encourage each other and stay connected!
