I have always liked Halloween! Every year was always some kind of fun adventure with my friends— from painting pumpkins, building haunted gingerbread houses, rolling, and I even went trick or treating with a friend then when we were 16. Yeah, I know— way too old for that, but we wanted that free candy!
In 2017, I spent Halloween in the hospital and everyone came and played a murder mystery.
Rainie found one online and everyone chose their character. We each read our parts out loud when our turn came until we figured out the mystery!
The next Halloween, I got to spend it out of the hospital and wanted to do something fun.
We went to Rainie’s and my friends, Kiley and KB, came over to watch a scary movie outside. It has been a tradition ever since! Rainie’s husband, JT, always picks the movie. I don’t like scary movies so he is always sure to choose a super scary one because this is the ONLY night I will ever watch one.
Halloween looks differently since my accident. From a murder mystery game in the hospital to a scary movie on a projector screen, it’s still always fun.
Since this year is a little different because of the Covid maybe it’s time to start a new tradition like we did! Here are some ideas:
∙ Set up a projecter and watch a scary movie outside. Add a bonfire and make s’mores for extra fun!
∙ Paint/carve pumpkins
∙ Do a murder mystery
∙ Build a haunted house gingerbread
What are your plans this year?!
