HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Cheers to a new year and a new YOU! I love celebrating the New Year!!!
It’s the perfect time to set new goals, resolutions, and to see how far you’ve come in the past year.
Setting goals is an important thing to do! Here’s why:
1) Goals give you something to aim for.
I read this example— Imagine having to shoot an arrow without being given a target. — This is what life is like without setting goals. By setting goals, you give yourself a target to aim for.
2) When You Make A Goal, You Can Measure Progress
By setting goals for yourself, you can compare where you started with where you’re at. You can also see how much further you have to go.
Like, if I make a goal to make 100 different cards. I start working on it. Along the way, I lose track of how many cards I have made and how many more I need to make. So, I count the number of cards I have already made and it is easy to determine my progress and I know how much more I need to do.
3) Goals Keep You Focused And Undistracted
By setting goals, you give yourself ‟rules”. When you have an end point in mind it is easier to stay away from distractions and stay focused on the goal.
Since, one of my goals is not to eat so many sweets, when my dad makes a cake at 8 pm, it’s easier (but still hard ?) to say no when he asks if I want a piece. Because I have made it my goal and I don’t want to let myself down!
No matter what happens along the way, your goal helps you to stay focused.
4) Goals Give You Motivation.
Setting goals increases the drive to finish something. By making a goal you give yourself a end point to work towards and to be excited about.
I am excited to walk with out any help one day.
So, I practice walking in my gait trainer almost every night.
When you have a goal in mind, you are more motivated because you want to achieve it.
But it’s ok if you don’t always reach your goals, too!
Last year, I only reached 1 out of 4 goals!
But I will keep working on them until I do reach them!
Two years ago, my goal was to take 60 steps, but I didn’t do that until last year, and I took 143!!!
My goals for this year:
—to be able to stand up from my chair with minimal assistance.
—I have taken 143 steps, but my feet would drag every now and then and I had to take a few breaks, So, I want to be able to take 100 easily.
— take more classes.
— Grow my business and my blog!!!
— Quit eating so much sugar. This one might be the hardest of them all!!!
Tell me what you accomplished in 2020.
What are your goals/resolutions for 2021?
Whether the year was what you wanted, more or less than, you can still take the good that came from it and move into another year.
If you didn’t accomplish the goals you set or didn’t stick with your resolutions, that’s ok!!!
Look at what you did accomplish and how far you’ve come since last year.
You made it through another year— set new goals and try again!!!
