As they say, timing is everything, and for me, the stars aligned perfectly for my 24th birthday on April 24th, 2024. 

Usually, I’m content with low-key birthday celebrations, preferring to spend the evening with my family enjoying a delicious homemade dinner—my favorite being a shrimp boil prepared by none other than Jt, my brother-in-law.

However, this particular birthday was different. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I knew it deserved to be celebrated in a big way. When I mentioned the unique date to a friend, she immediately exclaimed, “Oooh, 24k gold!” That’s when inspiration struck. 

What better way to commemorate turning 24 on 4/24/24 than with a 24K gold-themed party?

The idea took hold of me, and I couldn’t shake it off. I envisioned an unforgettable celebration that would be as unique as the date itself—April 24th, 2024, my 24th birthday. A moment in time I couldn’t let pass by without turning into something truly memorable.

So, I planned the party of a lifetime. It began with the invitations—of course, I made my own! (I make greeting cards.) 

Next came the party supplies and outfits.

Of course, since shopping is one of my favorite hobbies, I couldn’t forget about dressing the part!

I scoured the one and only Amazon for the perfect ensemble, not just for myself but for my entire family.

I asked one of my brothers if he wanted me to order him a gold shirt, and he sent me back a picture of a tan one saying, “I think this would work!”

I replied with, “You need GOLD!”

He finished the conversation with, “You’re the boss.”

I ordered each member of them a gold shirt, something that I thought they would personally like.

My mom came up with this cool idea to make a carrot cake—or as we referred to it, a ‘karat’ cake!

I must mention the cake turned out to be delish. It was made by Rainie, whose cooking and baking skills can only be described as top-notch.

As the big day approached, anticipation filled the air. Rainie came over the night before with a few extra party supplies and to help clean up the house. 

She brought mini black pots and filled them with Rollo candies so they looked like pots of gold, along with mini fishbowls that she filled with goldfish crackers… Haha, genius! 

The next morning, my friends and I got right to work setting up all the decorations and getting me ready.

Together, we transformed the space into a 24K gold-themed extravaganza. And when the final touches were in place, I knew that all the effort had been worth it.

As I admired our work, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride and satisfaction. I knew that this would be a celebration to remember for years to come.

We also made party favors, which included Ferrero Rochers and mini Paper by Janey cards! 

The stage was set, the guests were arriving, and the excitement was obvious. It was time to kick it off and make memories that would last a lifetime. 

Turning 24 on 4/24/24 was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I’m grateful to have shared it with the people who mean the most to me.
