Most people have given up on their New Year’s resolutions by February 1st.
Some even have given up by the second Friday in January. The day even has it’s own name— Quitters Day. That’s only two weeks!!!
About, 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail. Many of people over the years have tried new ways to achieve our big goals and resolutions, including naming them differently, approaching them differently and viewing them differently
Research shows that 46% of people do keep their resolutions for at least 6 months, and only 8% keep them for the entire year.
New Year’s resolutions can work. Remember where you started, have some self discipline, and don’t give up!!!
And don’t abandon your resolution/goal just because of a setback.
Most people give up after they break their resolution once or twice. It’s unrealistic to believe we are going to achieve our goals without ever failing.
One of my goals this year was to eat less sweets, but I ended up eating ice-cream the first two days of the year… Oops!
I had already failed, but that didn’t mean I had to give up.
On January 3rd, I tried again. But instead of completely saying no to desserts I started with healthy ones, and it was much easier to break my habit.
If you have already given up, it’s not too late to try again!
Pay attention to what happened, make any changes you can to avoid those distractions and start again. Maybe this time you can start smaller and work from there.
It doesn’t matter how many times you start over, as long as you are trying reach your goal. You can always start your day with the intent to do better.
